I love to eat good food, but this doesn’t always happen because I don’t always feel like cooking. Let’s be real. It takes a certain amount of planning, energy, effort, and love to make a home cooked meal, and we are not always about it. More often then not we want to have things our way, on our terms, and according to our timeline. But how many of you know that good things take time?

Abraham and Sarah did their own thing and birthed Ishmael, but still had to had to wait for God’s promise to be fulfilled through the birth of Isaac. David was anointed to be king years before it actually came to pass. Elizabeth and Zechariah had to wait until they were of old age give birth to their first son John The Baptist. Yes it took a while but Jesus himself said that there is no one on earth like John The Baptist. Yes, his parents had to wait, but he came right on time for the purpose for which God had called him. I mean, even Jesus had to wait 30 years before he even started his public ministry. Why? Because good things take time!

If you’ve been feeling antsy lately I just came to encourage you to chill out. Finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, getting in shape, having a successful career take time, and anything that is good takes time. Stop looking for shortcuts. Stop trying to make things happen on your own. Be still and know that he is God. He is in control, and it’s time to surrender your timeline to him.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6
